The next big thing that I see coming in the new media world is a virtual reality networking platform. Virtual reality and augmented reality are both two growing technologies in many aspects of our society. For virtual reality, we put on a set of goggles that will take us to another dimension, or a virtual reality. The way I see this happening is something like that of Animal Crossing on the switch. People will be able to create their own characters, who can look like they do in person or can be designed whatever character of their imagination. Maybe for security purposes, the user will have to take a selfie and the platform would create the virtual character for that person. People will have the ability to meet anyone they want, sort of like our social media now. The main difference is that you will be able to explore the world around you and be able to interact with others. You're no longer in a 2-D platform, you will now be in a 3-D environment. Right now, the technologies are not at that level or are too costly to work with. But I expect we should see something like this within the next decade, if not definitely by 2050.
If I was a new hire for Baruch and was in charge of managing our social media there are many different approaches I could take. However, before diving into any strategies first I would want to understand who are demographics are, this would include learning where most of our audience spends there time on. Each strategy would differ depending on the office that I'm working for and what the ultimate goal is. I think one creative solution that I've seen is having a student leader take over a specific platform for the day and answer questions people might be having. The student or staff can also do a day in my life. The school could also benefit by sharing resources through their social media and tailoring those messages depending on where they are going (i.e. twitter vs LinkedIn). Whenever we post any pictures or graphics, I would make sure they are high-quality content whenever possible of course. Nonetheless, I think the school has definitely gotten better with their social medi...
Hey Marvin,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading through this post! Your idea to merge the internet’s capabilities with a virtual reality is not a business idea, it is truly an “industry” idea. The merger between augmented and virtual reality can pave the way for an entire industry worth of revenues and profits! I believe the merger of these two realities will come from the military, similar to how the internet was created. This is due to the fact that the military department in America has such high budgets that can afford to experiment and fail with merging the two a couple of times before creating a successful product or mechanism. Overall, great thinking!
Sincerely,
Scott.
Hello Marvin,
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea. Especially during times like this, Animal Crossing has becoming super popular with many players. This idea people creating their own characters seems like a real life video game! People would definitely love to get into this idea in the near future. Cool concept.
Best Regards,
Jesse
